The public demonstration of the project software and testbed
took place together with the
MING-T Experts' Workshop,
held on 24/03/2009 on Tsinghua University Campus.
The video taken during the demo will be published soon.
Several key parts of the overall project architecture and software
were demonstrated with live-demos:
- Multi-standard broadcasting
via both DVB-H and DTMB to a mobile multi-standard receiver.
This demo used the existing rooftop antenna on the main Tsinghua
building, and DVB-H modulators and transmitters provided by
project partner Enensys.
- Automatic and seamless handover between DVB-H and DTMB,
based on received signal-strength.
- Interactive services in the converged network,
demonstrated by an interactive voting application.
The voting setup is encoded in the ESG, and transmitted to the
client.
Once active, the GUI is shown as an overlay on top of the
background video. The user-selection is transmitted back to
the voting server.
- Reliable data services in the converged network,
using DTMB for parallel video-streaming and the downlink bulk data-transfer, and the existing CDMA-1X networks for the uplink
and handshake connection.
The client software sends NAK and burst-NAK packets to the file
server via the uplink, which are then later re-transmitted via
the broadcast network.
- Scalable video coding
in combination with hierarchical modulation
and unequal error-protection for robust video transmission via DVB-H.
